About Poseyville, 47633 - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Poseyville is a small community in Indiana with a population that hovers around 1,000 people. Nearby Evansville which is quite busy, but Poseyville provides a different ambience and a slower pace that many Midwesterners love. This town is prototypically American and welcoming in a way that brings you back a few decades to a simpler time in the country’s history. The seasonal climate lets residents to enjoy warm summers and snowy winters. Kids can ice skate in December and swim in August. What could be better than that?
Do you love history? You will have to make a day trip out of town to check out the plantation home of George Washington, Mount Vernon Estate. It is located nearby in the town of, you guessed it, Mount Vernon. The Washington clan possessed property in the region for generations and the plantation was originally owned by George’s great grandfather. But, the first president most certainly left his mark here. George, who took ownership of the mansion in 1754, oversaw the completion of an expansion and renovation that only added to the beauty and mystique of this amazing house on a hill. The mansion was elected a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and is now open for visits daily. You should definitely consider dedicating a sunny, warm spring or summertime day exploring and enjoying all that this lovely mansion and its surrounding gardens, buildings, etc. have to offer. You are guaranteed to have a lovely time, and learn some things too!
If colonial history is your cup of tea then you will be glad to know that Mount Vernon is not the only sightseeing spot in the area for history buffs. The nearby town of Newburgh’s Main Street is a must-see for those who visit or live in the area. The buildings in the downtown portion around Main St. have been refurbished in order to generate an atmosphere similar to a living history museum. (But, no one is dressed up.) This community’s downtown area also hosts "Ghost Walks” each fall. During these tours, people hear all about the town’s part in the Civil War and Underground Railroad as well as other important historical periods. Spend a pretty spring day walking around downtown and then, as the sun sets and the weather cools, head out on a Ghost Walk.
